Temporary fix hang on VMS, hang at the end of a thread

Jean-François Piéronne requested to merge topic/default-vms/syncio1109 into branch/default-vms

socker recv function hang on OpenVMS when there is nothing to read. The last message seem to be one or more null characters, add a explicit test for this case.
